The truth is, they were outright incredible antagonists as an ensemble, and they are full of question marks. Zaheer's group were the only villains of the show with origin stories deeply connected to the pre-established lore and characters of the series. Xai Bau's fraction of the Order of the White Lotus, founded all the way back in Aang's era, would grow to be known as the Red Lotus, believing in disorder and chaos, with the representing color palette of Vaatu, instead of that of Raava. I think many would agree that the Red Lotus were the most satisfying villains of The Legend of Korra, and it's for a good reason. One particularly interesting aspect of the Avatar that could be explored very well in a story like this is the relationship of Raava with the human body she inhabits - reincarnation, the power she has over the body of the Avatar and so on could all potentially answer interesting questions. How and if humanity could tackle such a threat without the political power and technology of Korra's time is fun to imagine.

I think the most captivating time, chronologically, for this concept would be centuries before Kyoshi's era, when the Avatar would undoubtedly still be considered a god, and a malevolent Avatar would be the most dangerous. In the most realistic scenario, somewhere down the line, a morally questionable person, maybe with additional negative stimuli to give shape and form to an actual villain, was chosen to be the body which Raava inhabited for a lifetime. Yes, this is a concept that was almost explored in Korra, with Unalaq and the Red Lotus, but it never really came to fruition (fortunately, that is). A standard mini-series with a central plot from which aspects of the Fire Nation branch out would work best here. The inner politics of the country, the way they were still recovering from the dark past, even wether Firelord Izumi herself is a firebender or not - she should be, and a most powerful one at that, but there's something charming about how progressive it would be for the Firelord after Zuko to not be a bender, especially since it would epitomize his wishes for a new, fairer world.

The new generation of the Royal Family is intriguing we know Firelord Izumi is most likely the daughter of Mai, and that she has at least two children, General Iroh of the United Forces, and a daughter, but that is it.

Even so, it would be very interesting to me to follow the Nation during Firelord Izumi's time, maybe even concurrently with the events of the actual series, or during the off-screen years of the Rise of the Earth Empire, from their perspective. The writers have mentioned on more than occasion that they did want to dive deeper into the Fire Nation of Korra's time, but the opportunity was never truly there - I can't blame them either, and I can whole-heartedly understand why the most exposed of the four Nations in The Last Airbender would not be the focus of the sequel series. The Fire Nation of Avatar Korra's era (Mini-Series). I'll also add a preferred medium next to each idea. I'm open to anything new moving forward, but I thought I'd share some ideas of things I'd like to see personally. and there's a myriad of possibilities with which this can evolve. With the launch of Avatar Studios, we've been promised an expansion of the Avatar universe of great scale, with an animated film beginning production later this year already.
